Cabo del Sol Desert Course

Location

Km 10.3 Transpennisular Hwy, Cabo del Sol, Phone: (624) 145-8200

Description

The Desert Course was designed by Tom Weiskopf. This course spreads across 140 acres of gently rolling desert terrain with a 4 or more sets of tees on each hole. This masterful Tom Weiskopf design features mesmerizing ocean views from all 18 holes, each artfully sculpted through incredible natural surroundings. A unique combination of desert and ocean, canyon-like arroyos and a variety of foliage creates a breathtaking backdrop as well as a significant challenge. The desert course, on the other hand, is dominated by sand, rock, and cacti (imagine that). While it may often be overshadowed by its older and more illustrious brother, the desert course has been ranked as high as #6 in Mexico by Golf Digest.

Signature Hole

One of the many memorable holes on the Desert Course is the par four 18th hole, which is a gorgeous downhill trek with the Sea of Cortez looming as a dramatic backdrop. Off the tees, golfers must avoid a meandering creek that runs along the entire left side of the fairway before crossing the approach and cascading into the lake that guards the front and right of the green. The downhill second shot requires accuracy to the generous, undulating green that is protected by the lake and bunker on the right.
