Dominican Republic’s E-ticket implementation, 5G rollouts, and World-Class Sporting events

Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana

AMResorts, an Apple Leisure Group’s subsidiary, opened Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana on Feb. 21, 2020. The family-friendly resort features 500 suites along with a villa component. That’s along with nine dining options, of which six are a la carte eateries. The property also features a Dreams Spa by Pevonia, with four double-treatment cabins, eight single-treatment cabins, a bridal suite, a spa boutique, and a hydrotherapy circuit, among other features.

Passengers will need to fill out a form for arrival and another one for departure, upon which the system will generate two QR codes that will be scanned by the authorities at the ports of entry and departure. Technological Advancements

Since the end of November 2020, all foreign and Dominican passengers entering or leaving the Dominican Republic can complete an electronic entry/exit form that combines the current physical Traveler’s Health Affidavit form, the Customs Declaration Form, and the International Embarkation/Disembarkation form. Until December 2020 passengers are allowed to use either the physical forms or new digital forms to enter the country. The use of digital forms will be mandatory as of January 1, 2021.

Indotel To Invest Up To Rd$ 30.0m Per Month To Improve Internet Connectivity

The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) announced that RD $ 25 and RD $ 30 million would be invested per month in the creation of development projects to improve internet connectivity. In coordination with the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) on a backbone network is being installed that will allow connecting the country through fiber optics. The goal is that the internet can be accessed even in the most remote places in the country. Additionally, work is being done for the deployment of 5G technology which will allow dramatically improved connectivity and speed of service.

Punta Cana Airport Quickens Immigration Process

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and the Immigration Directorate put into operation six automated immigration control kiosks or “Automated Border Control (ABC),” cataloged as the most modern and agile entry and exit immigration registration process in the entire Caribbean.

The kiosks complement the outbound migration gates that were installed in the PUJ at the end of 2018, becoming the most advanced and complete automated processing system in the Caribbean. Punta Cana International Airport is poised to receive 143 flights a week from November 1 to January 2, 2021, from 25 airlines and more than 20 cities worldwide, mainly from the United States and Canada.

The airline companies scheduled for the winter season are Air Canada, Aerolíneas Argentinas, Air Transat, American Airlines, LAN, Southwest, United, Edelweiss, Wingo, Tui Airways, WestJet, Sunwing, Frontier, JetBlue, Spirit; Delta, Air Europa, Evelop, British, Nordwind, Delta, Wamos, Sun Country, Condor and GOL.
