Shorts, slacks, collared sports shirts, skirts, sundresses, jeans and swimsuits with cover-ups are all appropriate for daytime. You should also check the attire for your selected activities in case special items such as soft-soled shoes or hiking shoes are required.
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for all excursions. On tours involving water activities bring along or wear a swimsuit and wear sunglasses, a sun hat or visor and sunscreen.
Cancun telecommunications are modern and up to date. All main tourist areas have facilities such as fax and internet services and you will find wireless internet access in most hotels as well as in many restaurants and cafes.
To make international calls from Mexico you dial access code 001 for the US and Canada and 00 + access code for the rest of the world. The cheapest way to make phone calls is with prepaid cards.
Making phone calls from your hotel room may be costly. If you wish to use your cell phone in Mexico contact your service provider before your vacation for more information. You can rent cellphones per day for local use.
The official currency in Cancun is the Mexican peso but American dollars are also widely accepted. Banks open Mondays to Fridays from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm.
The majority of Money Exchange offices are open much later. Major credit and debit cards are accepted at most hotels, shops and restaurants. Your purchase is charged in Mexican pesos, your bank converts the ammount to the equivalent in dollars and charges it to your account.
Keep in mind that some stores don’t accept $100 US dollar bills. ATM’s accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express and dispense money in Mexican pesos, the commission amount depends on your bank’
Two major hospitals have opened Downtown Cancun, with one specializing in care of tourists.

A 11% value-added tax (called IVA in spanish) is applied to most goods and services, allthough some items such as medications are exempt.
Receipts are not required to itemize taxes separately, the taxes are usually included in the retail price of the goods.
